Pensacola Yacht Club was organized in 1908 as the Pensacola Yacht and Motor Boat Club and chartered in 1910. From its clubhouse on Cypress Street it looks out over Pensacola Bay, on the western edge of the Panhandle where the bay’s steady breeze and protected water make for a long racing season.

The club is a charter member of the Gulf Yachting Association (the century-old alliance of Gulf Coast clubs whose inter-club circuit anchors racing from Pensacola to New Orleans) and a US Sailing affiliate. Its calendar leans into that heritage: the GYA summer circuit’s Opti Week, the world championship of the classic Fish one-design class on Pensacola Bay, and the Flying Scot Midwinters. Members race Optimists, Lasers, 470s, and Hobie catamarans.

The junior program is a genuine strength. PYC fields a deep youth fleet across Optimists, doublehanded dinghies, and catamarans, feeding the GYA’s junior circuit and developing racers who move up through the club’s adult fleets.

Pensacola Yacht Club is a private, member-owned club that honors reciprocal privileges for visiting yacht-club members, including the wider GYA network. Membership is by sponsorship through the club’s membership office.
