ASA school and charter operation sailing from the Fort Myers Beach mooring field on a 45-foot Jeanneau. Liveaboard courses of two to seven days on the Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach waters, with combo packages through the bareboat certificate.
Students meet at Fishermans Wharf, directly under the Matanzas Pass bridge, and dinghy out to the boat: a 45-foot Jeanneau Sun Odyssey named Plan B on the Fort Myers Beach mooring field. Owner-operator Captain Scott Brenner holds a USCG 100-ton Master’s license with sailing endorsement, taught his way up through the ASA pathway, and previously commanded the local Coast Guard Auxiliary division.
The cruising courses are liveaboards: Basic Coastal Cruising (103) and Bareboat Cruising (104) each run three days and two nights aboard, Cruising Catamaran (114) two days with an overnight, and the packages stack them, up to a seven-day, six-night run from first sail to bareboat certificate. Basic Keelboat (101) runs two full days, courses take a two-student minimum, and Coastal Navigation (105) is offered as home study.
The charter half of the business runs day sails and getaways on the same water, and a “Try Before You Buy” program puts prospective boat buyers on a real cruiser before they sign anything. The teaching grounds are the school’s own argument: the protected jade-green spread between Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, and Estero Bay. Veterans, active military, and reservists get a discounted 101 through ASA’s Veterans Sailing Education Program.
